Tale of Light Luncheon with Moët & Chandon’s Benoit Gouez
31st July 2023Having Benoit Gouez in Australia presented a rare and unique opportunity for The Luxury Network to invite guests to hear from one of the greatest Chef de Caves in Champagne, and to gain a renewed appreciation for Moët & Chandon; it’s 280 years of history, innovation in winemaking and sustainability.
The theme of the lunch was based on the Tale of Light trilogy, from the early morning which was represented by the Grand Vintage 2015 and the Rose, through to the bright peak of Midday which was the 2006 vintage right through to the orange hues of sunset which was represented by the 1999 vintage. We wanted this theme to carry throughout every area of the event, including the venue itself. We hosted this event at leading contemporary art gallery, PIERMARQ*, which also followed the tale of light theme via the artworks displayed on the walls which took you on a journey of light throughout the day starting from the Mezzanine level down into the main gallery where lunch was served.
On arrival, guests were greeted with a glass of Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2015 and were then ushered to the caviar station by Simon Johnson, which paired beautifully with the Champagne. Guests were then seated at one long dining table in the main gallery, adorned with florals for a beautiful four course meal curated by Matt Bates of Elite Chefs Sydney, which was tastefully paired with a collection of Moët & Chandon Gand Vintage Champagnes.
Ending the luncheon with the Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 1999 was an absolute stand out for us and of course the privilege of Mr. Gouez hosting TLN guests where we learnt so much about the Maison and history of winemaking at Moët & Chandon.
